<item><title>Breeding Leader for North Central Region- Seeds and Traits R&amp;D Job (Clinton, WI, US)</title><description><![CDATA[Breeding Leader for North Central Region- Seeds and Traits R&D-1304712<br/><br/><b>Description</b><br/><br/>Dow AgroSciences, based in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA, develops leading-edge crop protection and plant biotechnology solutions to meet the challenges of the growing world. Dow AgroSciences is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company and had annual global sales of $6.4 billion in 2012.<br/><br/>The primary purposes of this job are to i) supervise the Seeds and Traits R&D staff located within the North Central Region in the United States ii) ensure breeding resources are developed and deployed appropriately and aligned to business priorities iii) be responsible for the career development, performance planning, review, and general administration of breeding staff. The qualified candidate will be actively involved in developing and fostering relationships with internal customers, external collaborators, and industry associations.  The candidate for this position will also serve as project leader for key projects and will be the station leader for the field breeding station near Clinton, Wisconsin.<br/><br/><b>Key Responsibilities:</b><br/><br/>- Performance management and professional development of technical/administrative staff<br/>- Succession planning and career development management for direct staff and serves as a representative to the global Seeds and Traits R&D (S&T R&D) function and ensures S&T R&D employees are considered for career opportunities on the Seed Business staff<br/>- Ultimately accountable for the quality and productivity of the S&T R&D staff against the established work plan (on time delivery of milestones, etc.)<br/>- Represents their unique region/ecology within the S&T R&D Function and works to help establish an effective work plan that efficiently and effectively utilizes resources<br/>- With Breeding and Field Station Leaders, implements work plans that deliver Regional and Global business needs.  Has ultimate authority for dissemination of work load within local areas<br/>- Overall responsibility for management of S&T R&D budget and use of contractual funds where appropriate, to meet work plan needs<br/>- Assists Global S&T R&D Leaders with establishment of best breeding practices and scorecards to ensure quality and productivity improvements within the S&T R&D  organization<br/>- Represents S&T R&D function within regional business teams and determines technical / breeding strategy required to deliver business goals<br/>- Leads various project teams to address key deliverables aligned with business goals and critical success factors<br/>- Contributes to the development of R&D strategies through participation in project teams<br/><br/>CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTORS<br/><br/>- The critical competencies required for success are interpersonal effectiveness, personal leadership, customer & market focus, technical knowledge, teamwork, analytical skills, and initiative<br/>- Technical proficiency in the use of multiple computer applications and sound analytical skills are necessary for success<br/>- Basic technical proficiency in statistics and field experimental design to contribute leadership in assessing validating field experiments<br/><br/>SKILLS/DIMENSIONS/EXPERIENCES:<br/><br/>- In addition to the company core competencies for a job at this level the successful applicant will be expected to have experience and an understanding of the complexity of traits in a modern N.A. retail and licensing commercial business<br/>- It is expected that applicants have at least 7 years of N.A. Seed Industry experience and an advanced technical degree.
