This is intended to be an 18-30 month program. During this time the candidate may have assignments at more than one of the sites listed above.

Education/Experience required:

- Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, agronomy or other technical discipline.
- Ability to drive a company vehicle and lift 50 pounds

Job Information/Working conditions:

- This role requires some travel to growing areas, primarily in the USA, and occasionally outside the USA. You will be working in field, production facility and office environments.
- Some overtime and weekend work is required.
- Knowledge of Spanish is a plus.
- Prior seed production or other agricultural experience is a plus.

Under the general supervision of the Olivia Site Leader, the candidate for the Corn Breeder position will coordinate with the functional corn leader to develop new inbreds and hybrids that contribute to the commercial success of the company. This role include responsibilities to lead a research project in the development of inbred lines to fit the maturity zones covering 90-100 DRM. The candidate must support overall breeding strategy by selecting and managing test locations that are used by self and other DAS stations to identify superior performing products and to help position the products for sales. The incumbent is expected to work in a team approach to apply state-of-the art Genomics Technologies as well as multi-disciplinary prediction methodologies to support breeding maize for yield and other complex traits.

The candidate will understand and assure compliance with all DAS, State and Federal regulations.

Primary Responsibilities:

- Provide leadership, coaching and feedback to station personnel and part-time employees
- Select germplasm, develop and implement a creative and efficient breeding plan with the purpose of selecting superior commercial products in assigned maturity
- The breeding plan must take into account both performance of the new hybrids and new parent lines to positively influence cost of goods

- Understand and leverage the diversity of germplasm available from the Global breeding network as well as molecular tools in the development of the breeding plan
- Ensure research programs are in full compliance with all DAS, State and Federal requirements governing regulated transgenic field testing activities
- Partner with external units, team and other process owners to prioritize projects based on business goals and develop synergies between projects
- Communicate with commercial team to provide technical knowledge for hybrid placement
- Interface with the experts in Quantitative Genetics, Data Mining and Bioinformatics to integrate results to support breeding decisions
- Effectively plan and allocate resources across operational lanes
- Actively participate in global multi-disciplinary teams comprised of lab, field, parent seed, and management personnel to support station activities
- Contribute leadership, ideas and support for North American breeding initiatives including those relating to Human Resources, Employee Health &Safety (EH&S), Trait Stewardship & Compliance and cross-functional teams
- Travel to outlying locations and research stations and laboratories as needed
- Ensure that DAS EH&S, DOT and station regulations and policies are established and enforced

Qualifications

- Doctorate degree or equivalent experience in Plant Breeding
- Commercial breeding experience is highly desirable
- Solid understanding of genetics and/or molecular biology, agronomy, statistics, transgenic crop development, emerging technologies and customers' needs
- Demonstrated personal leadership, interpersonal, analytical, planning and organizational skills
- Ability to take initiative and work effectively on teams
- Must have enthusiasm and aptitude for learning and continuous improvement of critical research activities

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the overall management and achievement of a sales plan within a sales territory while exercising independent judgment in developing methods, techniques and evaluation of key prospects with the ability of developing relationships with them.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible to recruit, train, develop and motivate an active selling sales force within territory aimed at increasing sales volume. Responsible to identify and build relationships with key larger corn and soybean growers with the intent to help customers understand the hybrids, varieties, and traits offered by Mycogen Seeds.

1. Develop and monitor territory budgets, control expenses and provide accurate and timely sales forecasts.
2. Effectively communicate technical understanding of Mycogen Seeds commercial product line-up of products.
3. Professionally conduct meetings, and field days. Gain needed support and materials from marketing and commercial development staffs.
4. Actively promote marketing programs, provide feedback to marketing on customer response.
5. Keep abreast of market trends, competitive products, programs and pricing structures. Provide ongoing feedback to marketing and sales staffs.
6. The ability to operate in close coordination with local seed dealers, and Mycogen sales teams.
7. Facilitate the planting, harvesting and recording of plots in a timely and accurate manner.
8. Effectively and proactively manage customer service calls and/or complaints.
9. Communicate regularly with sellers and customers keeping them abreast of new products, product advancements, promotions, feedback from other customers, etc.
10. Manage orders to inventory, control returns and assist sellers in collecting outstanding accounts when necessary.
11. Monitor and facilitate movement of product on a limited basis as needed during spring planting..
12. Maintain company vehicle and records properly.
13. Maintain a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
14. Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

- Bachelors Degree Required. Relevant disciplines: agronomy, agriculture, business, biology or related sciences field.
- Two or more years of agriculture sales experience within the ag chemical and/or seed industry is preferred.
- Experience with effectively demonstrating self motivation, initiative, assertiveness, and results orientation.
- Ability to successfully work in a fast-paced changing environment.
- Previous experience successfully working in teams.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Basic computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook).
- Willingness to travel and live/work in a rural environment.
